Dismantled is a popular artist in today’s electro/industrial,synthpop scene, although somewhat under rated in the RGV scene. Dismantled beginnings came in late 2000 as a result of Gary Zon trying to mimic the sounds of Front Line Assembly. After some positive online feedback, Gary started expanding his sound. Drawing influence from anything and everything, Dismantled sounds were a mix of electro-industrial merged with trance elements. In 2001, Dependent Records released the track “Purity” on the compilation Septic II along side acts such as :wumpscut:, VNV Nation, and Suicide Commando.
Metropolis Records contacted Gary in late October 2001, and expressed interest in working with Dismantled. June 4th, 2002; Dismantled’s self-titled album was released on Dependent Records for European distribution, and on Metropolis Records for North American distribution. By this time, Gary had added a supporting live line up; Shawn Kilmer on Keyboards and Matt Kurczodyna on bass.
Post Nuclear, Dismantled’s sophomore album was released in 2004 and set a whole new standard for aggro-electro. In 2005, after the success of for Post Nuclear, Dismantled released the Breed to Death EP. Dismantled sounds were now fused with electro-clash and the sounds of the 80′s. After creating great buzz from the EP, Standard Issues was released in 2006 which included the tracks “Breed to Death,” and “Get it Through.”
As of 2010, Dismantled is anticipated to release a new album titled The War Inside Me. it is to be released on Metropolis Records. Dismantled has since appeared in several tours Notably supporting Combichrist for their 2009 tour and appearing in Netherland’s GothFest in support of Skinny Puppy.
How did i come across the great act? In 2008, I was the resident DJ for Valentinos Friday “Goth Night.” Subsequently one night, my cds were all stolen. Not having money or a computer at the time, I asked a friend to make some cds for me. The following Friday, I opened up and DJed the whole night with the four cds she made, one of which featured Dismantled – Breed to Death. I have been hooked on them since.
I look forward to the new album and to what new sounds Dismantled has in store. I also look forward to continuing to play their tracks, both old and new, for the masses and spread the Dismantled word.
